Glassdoor, the popular San Francisco-based job search engine and company review website, recently signed a lease for 51,000 square feet at 1330 W. Fulton in Chicago’s rapidly growing Fulton Market neighborhood. CBRE’s Kyle Kamin and Dan Persa represented the firm in the transaction.

In an article from Crain’s Chicago Business today, Glassdoor CEO Robert Hohman says the firm looked at markets across the country for expansion, but eventually chose Chicago.

Hohman told Crain’s:

“I was a little surprised,” Hohman, co-founder and CEO, said of Chicago. “I would have suspected we’d choose New York.”

“We looked at Chicago, New York, Houston, L.A., Austin—just about everywhere. None had the combination of talent, infrastructure or scale as Chicago.”

According to Crain’s, the firm expects to grow from 50 to 100 employees in Chicago by year’s end, and, 400 professionals by 2017.
